Presented by: Scott. On the heels of our Paper Chase at Rotary Park last Saturday, Scott took the opportunity to talk about the genesis of Rotary Park. (The park opened on 15 August 1956 through the collaboration and work of Rotarian volunteers, businesses, trade unions, and local citizens.) Rotary Park and its trails are much appreciated by the citizens of CBRM. 2000 people marched up to the park on the opening day, he said, and the whole thing culminated when a rain storm hit, and the soloist for the day was left stranded on a raft in the reservoir! Scott thanked those who participated in the Paper Chase.

Bob thanked those who participated in the Rotary Park clean-up. The advisor for the Riverview Interact Club herself came out and worked along with one of the students. Bob has posted a picture from the day on our webpage.
The trust account for the scholarship this year allows us to give $10,000 in scholarships. $6,000 to Riverview and $4,000 to Sydney Academy. After some discussion it was decided to keep the scholarship amounts at $1,000 per student.

New Business
Brandon suggested that to increase our public image, we should purchase Rotary-branded clothing for members. If somebody has a particular item that they'd like, contact Brandon. Brandon is going to source the items. It was noted that vests can be purchased on the Rotary site and no need to have them designed locally. 50/50 money was used for the 100th anniversary pins and some of the 50/50 money could be used for some of the clothing, too.

John asked if there was a Sick and Visiting Committee. It was felt this fell under Membership. There was concern that Dave Mitten was ill, but Alister reported that Dave is much better now.
Brandon added that with new Covid restrictions, the Charter night substitute will need to be re-planned.
Elias remembered that we used to advertise what the Club does in the community. Bob said that the Cape Breton Post doesn't use pictures from the community like they used to. Cheryl said you need to send a full story with photos and still not everything gets published. Darren reported that the District has provided $1,000 and Michelle MacKinnon from the Sunrise Club will produce a video about the 5 Cape Breton Rotary clubs to increase awareness and help with fundraising and recruitment. It is hoped that each Cape Breton club will contribute an additional $200.
Bob reminded members to spend the $5 per week that you were paying for 50/50 on RaffleBox.

Darren reported that a member of the North Sydney Club will make "give what you can/take what you need" community food cupboards for CBRM District 7. Alister confirmed that we can afford this project. Moved by Scott and seconded by Chris that we spend $500 ($300 for construction and $200 for food). Motion carried.
