Scott:
- We had a successful Paper Chase on the weekend at Rotary Park. With the garbage we picked up, we filled a half ton truck. Since we started our Paper Chase annually, he has seen a reduction in the litter at Rotary Park over the years. There was good representation at the Paper Chase from the Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club.
- Brandon thanked Scott for organizing the Paper Chase.
Bob:
- Looking for members to assist the gentleman who does the garden at the Cenotaph of the Cape Breton Highlanders Monument on Kings Road. The tentative date for this gardening assistance will be Saturday, June 27, beginning at 9 AM. It should only take a couple of hours.
Christine:
- The proposed revisions to the Club Bylaws and the Notice of the Meeting for June 30, 2020 has been sent out via email. Please review and let directors know if there are any questions. Please make your best effort to attend our Club's Annual General Meeting on June 30, 2020 so that we can obtain quorum.
Brandon:
- The Directors had a very productive meeting last week. We approved the Bylaw amendments to be brought before the Membership at the AGM on June 30, 2020, as well as the Membership Handbook & Committee Handbooks. We are going to have the governance structures ready to go for the new year in July.
Scott:
- If our club would like to resume doing in-person meetings, then there is the option that we could hold breakfast meetings on Tuesday mornings in the main area of the restaurant at Boston Pizza, maintaining physical distancing.
-After some discussion, it was determined that this matter would go to the directors first.
-Lisa asked if the Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club was back to holding their regular in-person meetings, and Hoyles respondent that they were not.
Alfred:
- asked if the directors had approved the additional $3500 in funding for the Crossroads Wellness Centre at the new location on Kings Road. The total amount we will have contributed if we contribute this additional $3500 will be $9739.00. At this point, he does not foresee an increase in the amount of this ask
- Alfred move that the club approve an additional $3500 of funding for the Crossroads Wellness Centre in order to provide specialty items to its new location on Kings Road. Unfortunately, there was no quorum at the meeting and so the motion was adjourned until the AGM.
Voting Via Email:
- as a result of the lack of quorum at the meeting, and the continued lack of quorum we are seeing at our meetings, it was suggested that perhaps we could amend our bylaws to allow voting via email. General discussion followed. No action item was taken on the matter.
