Guest Speaker / Special Program

  • Rot. Jack Dorsay from the Sunrise Club spoke of their two big projects
The Project Brief  for the project for which we are currently seeking funding is attached. This is the project we were asked to take over from a US based club as the International Sponsor. We did so on 15 March. It the time approx. US$17,000 remained to be found. With a few club pledges (RCSS, New Waterford & New Minas) plus 12% DDF with 80% match from the World Fund US$5,340 remained to be found at the time the Brief was completed. A few more small pledges from other district clubs has taken the amount to be found down to US$3,610. While it’s nice to receive large pledges, these small pledges do add up. Any pledge your club can provide will be most welcome. Pledges are collected only after the application has been approved which can not be done before all funding has been pledged.

The Solar Panel project in North Sydney is in its very early stages now. We are now seeking an International Sponsor in the USA. We will not be ready to seek pledges until well into the next Rotary Year. Just a heads up. Louise MacLeod is taking the lead role on this one.

A second project in Lebanon is also in its very early stages. The host sponsor is RC Beirut Cosmopolitan and the non profit involved is the Karagheusian Association of Lebanon, an affiliate of the New York based Karagheusian Foundation. We dealt with another Karagheusian Foundation affiliate regarding the last GG we did in Armenia.

*It should be noted that there is an attachment to accompany Jack's presentation, and there is also a picture taken by Rot. Bob at this meeting.  I am not sure I have access to add photos.  I will get Sec. Donnie to assit with this when he is back on his feet*

There being no further business, the Chair ended the meeting.

Toast to RI
