Rotary Club of Sydney's 100th Year Project
- great group discussion on the 100th year project
- reminder that for our Club's 50th year - we sponsored Rotary Park
- there is an option to name the football field in Open Hearth Park the "Rotary Field".
The cost of this project would be roughly $26,000.00 to install "Rotary" on the astroturf.
Elias: suggested a parade for the 100th anniversary. Would create a lot of publicity.
Fletcher: suggested Rotary prepare a really nice float in a parade that's already taking place.
reminder that the District Conference is taking place the last week of May 2020 so it would be nice to schedule the project around that time.
Kevin: in Calgary, one of the Rotary Clubs sponsored "Rotary Challenger Park". It's a very nice park.
discussion of whether other 3 local clubs would also sponsor this field if it was our 100th anniversary project.
Dave: it would be nice to have the other clubs support the project as it will be called "Rotary Field".
Jim: questioned whether the field is solely used for football, as the future of football is uncertain given the injuries. A member advised it is a multi-use field.
Frank: the Rotary Field would attract many more people in one year than Rotary Park has in 50 years.
Other Fundraising- Free Cruise with Andrew Prosper's company
- Bob asked what we need to do in order to utilize the opportunity to fundraise tickets on a free cruise with Andrew Prosper's company for two people- Frank said as far as he knows, that is still available- the cruise would be some time between June and September- the trip is worth ~$15,000- Dave noted that we would not be able to offer a cash equivalent in lieu, and as such, the tickets may not be as easy to sell- it was determined that this discussion would need to be continued at a later time
