Committee Reports
Club Administration Committee (Director: Hoyles Whiting)
Report provided by Hoyles.
Membership Committee (Director: Krista Rose)
No report provided
Public Image Committee (Director: Keith Buckland)
Report provided by Darren in lieu of Keith. The report on our donation to Crossroads was featured on the District Facebook page as well as our own.
Service Projects Committee (Director: Debbie Walsh)
No report provided but in the absence of Debbie, Bob reported that the Interact Club at Riverview is organizing a food drive for Loaves and Fishes. They will be reaching out to the entire school and plan to complete it by March break. Bob suggested that Rotarians can bring in food donations and Bob will deliver them to the Interact Club. Bob will send out notification by email about when Rotarians can bring their contributions. Interact is also looking at doing a community clean up.
Bob also reported that the Air Cadets annual financial statement is completed. Air Cadets shouldn't need financial support from us. They are meeting at a Legion hall and the Legion donated $1,000 to them last year.
Brandon reported on Curling for a Cause: the target is 12 teams and we are at 9 now. Eager to register teams. Rotarian volunteer involvement will be limited, those who plan to participate anyway can contact Brandon. Date is Feb. 27.
Ways & Means Committee (Director: Dave Mitten)
No report provided
Rotary Foundation Committee (Director: Bob Munroe)
Bob had nothing new to report.
New Business
Bob has received the 100th anniversary pins. It was moved by Bob Munroe and seconded by Scott MacLean that we use the Sergeant at Arms funds to reimburse the treasurer for the pins. Motion carried. See Bob to collect your pin.
Topic #1 (if applicable — to be determined prior to the meeting)
Topic: Induction of Cheryl Marsh
Presenter: Darren Vallis & Scott MacLean
Notes: Cheryl is the Manager of Philanthropy at Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, lives in Mill Creek. Her partner is Chris McGean.
Topic #2 (if applicable — to be determined prior to the meeting)
Topic: Overview of the Membership Handbook
Presenter: Brandon Toner
Notes: The Handbook will aid us in our obligations and responsibilities. Brandon encouraged each Rotarian to read through it. We will use it in the spirit of fun, levity and service. The Bylaws take precedence over the Handbook which takes precedence over the Committee Handbooks.
Round Table
Cheryl noted that she is member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Cape Breton and can help us find opportunities for service. Scott said that we should be looking for volunteer opportunities.
Gord reported that Ribfest for this year is still undecided.
Meeting Host (Happy/Sad Fines, Ticket Draw, Distribution of Meeting Fines)
Scott — "Sad Fine": during miserable weather conditions, the meeting location and time signs have been posted where the previous ones were posted
Christine reminded directors of the Zoom meeting on Thursday.
President's Remarks (Directors' Meetings, District News, Special Reports)
Darren thanked Hoyles and Brandon for their work on the club organization.
If a member would like to make a presentation longer than a couple of minutes, contact Hoyles, Brandon or Darren to get it slotted into a meeting agenda.
Darren said that we will be bringing back fines to the meetings (in the spirit of fun)
Guest Speaker / Special Program (If applicable)
No speaker but incoming President Brandon said that before we have a guest speaker, we should have stability and clarity with the new club processes. No speakers planned for at least 2 months.
